Minister of Finance, Yair Lapid, does not stop issuing interesting titles.
He first made headlines when he introduced the concept that talking to the people "through Facebook." The method has also gained a snide remark by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who answered the interviewer's question in "Wonderful Country" on Independence Day "the question is too serious, let's talk about it on Facebook "...
Last week he confronted representatives of haredi parties MK Moshe Gafni, Meir Porush and Yaakov Asher in his speech at the plenum. Further he clarified that his important speeches he will choose to carry in other forums and not in the Knesset.
The one who rushed to tease him about this intention was Speaker of the Knesset Yuli Edelstein, who made clear that if Lapid will abstain from carrying his speeches in the Knesset, he would avoid raising his wanted laws in the plenum.
This evening, according to reports, Lapid has retracted his original intention. Later he even bothered to analyze MK Gafni's character. And so he wrote in a note sent to weekend activists:
"In the plenum he functions most of the time as an aggressive and rude shouter, heckling champion, equipped - as I also noted from the stage – with a pair of massive lungs which let him drown your ears even without microphones," wrote Lapid.
But he added, "When Gafni goes out of the zone of cameras, he becomes a pleasant and intelligent man, with whom one can reach an agreement on legislation or action in committees. In my eyes - and possibly in his eyes too - this is not necessarily hypocrisy. While you are in you are in the plenum you are a representative of the public. While you are in the back buffet, you can be a person."
