Stormy demonstration in Jerusalem: To the excavations site at the Schneller compound, in the street in front of the Chabad Yeshiva in Jerusalem on Yirmiyahu Street came this afternoon (Monday) dozens of charedim to demonstrate. According to them, there is concern of the presence of graves in the caves uncovered there.

Some demonstrators disrupted work and blocked the road using dustbins.

As a result, police arrested seven protesters, and then excavations continued as normal. Police intend to bring at least some of the detainees to court for remand.

Earlier in the day about 25 protesters disrupted the region and work. The protesters then moved to Bar Ilan University in Jerusalem, where they tried to turn over dustbins and block the road. Police force called to the scene scattered them.
An hour later speakers went around the neighborhoods and called on the residents to demonstrate against the desecration of graves. To this demonstration came a few dozen people, and as mentioned, seven of whom were arrested.

A source involved in the construction of the project told B'Chadrei Charedim, that at the Schneller compound - adjacent to the Gur Beit Midrash on Yirmiyahu Street – construction is taking place and this morning a group of protesters, who identified themselves as representatives of the 'Atra Kadisha', arrived at the site.
The protesters claimed that the caves were found at the site and therefore require close supervision during construction works. "It is not clear whether there are bones in caves, but the detecting of caves raises need for supervision," said a representative of the organization in the past.

Police said: "To Schneller compound came about 20 charedim and disturbed work at the site, and tried to violate the order by entering the construction compound. Police were called to the scene and arrested seven of them and dispersed the rest."
