Christians celebrate, suffering at the Quarter: we cannot get to the Kotel

Israeli police informed residents of the Jewish Quarter: No passing this Shabbos through the Jaffa Gate or Gate of Zion.

And residents are furious.

Each year the Christians indicate in Jerusalem 'Saturday Light', during which they hold processions in the old city. Therefore the police blocked the passage through the Jaffa Gate or Gate of Zion.

This also applies to people making their way for prayers to the Western Wall. Chief Superintendent Erez Tabor, officer of police operations in the David area announced that police will evacuate the worshipers on their way to the Western Wall and other through other gates and at Jaffa Gate and Zion will be established checkpoints.

According to district resident's arguments, the passage through the Damascus Gate is not safe. "Why every year the Jewish worshipers - or we want to get to the West of the city, have to suffer?"

One resident said in a conversation with B'Chadrei Charedim: "For several years we try to change the decision not to block our way on 'Saturday Light', but there is no one to talk to."

Meanwhile, residents also complain about the huge banner on the way to the Western Wall, where Christian Yeshu is seen bleeding.

"This banner is too blunt," they argue. "The Jerusalem municipality must intervene and ensure the right balance between respect to religious freedom to not hurting feelings of passersby Jews."
