Slomiansky from Jewish Home met with R' Chaim Kanievsky

While the boycott of the haredi public on the Jewish Home in the midst, the party is portrayed as an enemy of the haredi public, and Hamodia newspaper even avoided mentioning the name of the Minister of Economy MK Naftali Bennett and was satisfied with his title as Minister of Economy, it seems that behind the scenes attempts to create good relations between the two sides – from both sides, partly also through covert channels between members of the party and Gedolei Yisrael, take place all the time.

Two weeks ago a secret meeting took place at the home of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky on Rashbam Street in Bnei Brak - revealed here for the first time – in which the Finance Committee chairman MK Nissan Slomiansky, met with R' Chaim.

The conversation lasted about fifteen minutes. The meeting was also attended by a senior haredi activist.

To disguise the existence of the meeting, the meeting was set on the third floor of the building in which R' Chaim lives, and MK Slomiansky got there through the entrance and not through the usual entrance to the home of R' Chaim.

R' Chaim asked Slomiansky about the party chairman Naftali Bennett and was interested in his opinions. Later, he asked him to "behave differently from the Chairman of the party and work for the Torah", using his new role.

R' Chaim even promised him that if he would do so, unlike his party chairman, he would "have only good and blessing in life."
