Hgr"s Auerbach, Rosh Yeshiva of Maalot Hatorah, continues to hold a separate campaign against the recruitment of yeshiva students, in opposition to the Council of Torah Sages.
An advertisement published in his home journal, 'Hapeles', said: "We have been asked by the Rosh Yeshiva Shlit"a to post – since the recruit decree is a gezeiras shmad (forced conversion) and akiras hadas (uprooting of religion), and certainly the entire matter of reporting now is only for sorting and assignment to duty in practice, one should not report at all."
The Council of Torah Sages, led by Hagaon R' Aharon Leib Steinman, ordered the yeshiva students that they must report to the recruitment center if they received a summons, but should not sign any documents.
