Canada: Two terrorists were arrested - planned attack on a passenger train

Last night (Monday) the media in Canada informed, the Montreal Police and Homeland Security of the United States, arrested two citizens of Arab origin on suspicion of planning to execute a terrorist attack on a passenger train.

At a press conference in Toronto it was reported that the suspects - arrested after chase in Toronto and Montreal - have received assistance of Al Qaeda in Iran, and apparently planned to attack the Toronto - New York line of railway passengers.

Two detainees, Chiheb Esseghaier, 30 from Montreal, and Raed Jasser 35 from Toronto, were arrested with the assistance of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, and accused of plotting to carry out terrorist attacks and murder in conjunction with a terrorist organization.

Canadian Minister of Public Safety, Vic Tuo said in conversation to reporters: "the arrests today demonstrate that terrorism continues to be a significant threat to Canada. Canada will not tolerate terrorist activity nor tolerate use of its territory as a sanctuary for terrorists or terrorist activity factors that help them."

In 2006, more than ten arrests of people took place, suspected of planting explosive devices planned in a series of crowded places across Canada, 11 of the detainees were convicted at the end of the trial and are serving a prison sentence.
