Storm in Seret Vizhnitz: Dayan ordered community not to enlist to civil service.
Yesterday (Tuesday) was held at Ramat Vizhnitz Haifa a lecture to the avrechim of Seret - Vizhnitz serving in civil service. The lecture was organized - by the Home Front Command on Emergency Preparedness.
The lecturer, who doesn’t wear a yarmulke, did not match his words to the audience and interpreted inappropriately. A number of avrechim turned to Dayan Rabbi David Shlomo Zoldan, and complained about the speaker and his words.
This morning (Wednesday) Rabbi Zoldan raged into the kollel in Haifa, knocked on the table and protested against the cancellation of the Torah of yeshiva students due to the Civil Service meetings.
Among other things he said: "Civil services managers want to put avrechim into the melting pot of the country, the state does not think for our good." Therefore he ordered that one may not enlist to civil service and yeshiva students must find a way to get rid of the service.
Rabbi Zoldan's words caused great uproar in the community.
We were unable to receive the response of the Civil Service in Haifa.
