Last Friday almost ended in disaster at the Knesset Yitzchak yeshiva in Hadera: This was when dozens of yeshiva students went to an approved beach, located near the mixed beach in the city. The lifeguard who was at the mixed beach spotted them and warned them not to enter the sea. Indeed, dozens of students obeyed his command and did not go into the water, but rather made do with splashing their feet in the waters of the sea.

On the other hand, a number of bochurim did not respect the order and decided to go deep into the sea by swimming. One of the guys went deep into the depths of the sea, and saw a Breslov Chossid, also a resident of Hadera, also swimming in the remote area. After half an hour when the chossid had already gone out, he discovered that he had lost eye contact with the boy and he feared that he had drowned.

The chossid climbed a high place, to see what is happening with the boy, and then he noticed a distant point flailing in the water. According to his body movements he understood that the latter is in distress. He ran over to a group of surfboards that were in close proximity, and told them about the case. Within seconds, the surfboards, who are good swimmers, jumped toward the student left behind, and pulled him out of the water. He had managed to swallow a lot of water and was seconds from death. "We reached him at zero hour," they said when they returned to the beach.

An MDA team called to the scene immediately began rapid medical treatment, which saved his life.

The story made waves naturally, at the yeshiva. Hagaon R' Yehoshua Ehrenberg, head of Knesset Yitzchak Yeshiva, gave a sharp talk to yeshiva students, during which he warned about the fact that dozens of bochurim went to sea at the beginning of the zman. The Rosh Yeshiva said that he prohibits the boys from bathing in the sea, until bein hazmanim, and announced that anyone caught violating the order – will be removed from the yeshiva.
