Delay era over? 21 thousand Haredim will receive an exemption from the IDF

Private conversation last week between a senior personnel directorate it seems that the government will completely rid the enlistment of everyone aged 22 and over in August. Amir Bohbot issued at Walla News.

Last week the IDF considered changes to benefits granted to ultra-Orthodox fighters within the Shahar project which will be felt mostly in family payments cuts and other obligations imposed on soldiers to fill.

The meeting also considered the possibility of charging the Shahar recruiters in upcoming cycles in performing duty and service, which currently are exempt from carrying out.

This is a real blow to Orthodox soldiers and those who intended to join the various Shahar tracks see this as a definite reluctance of army integration and increasing recruitment.

Shahar arms representatives also attended the meeting, which raised the need for the entire military cuts, and the possibility of such cuts imposed on payments to the families as well, which now stands at NIS 5,000, a high rate may even reach 50% and more.

The committee recently set up headed by the Minister of Science and Technology, Yaakov Perry, charged with forming a new government bill to replace the Tal Law, received the IDF assumption that the fees was never an incentive to haredi recruitment and didn’t prevent truancy.

In 2012 the IDF prepared for the recruitment of 1500 haredim when 1447 finally joined the practice. Figures obtained by Walla News suggests that recruitment target for the current year is 1800, and 2014 - 2100, 2015 - 2400, and-2016 - 2400 haredi recruiters.

The IDF spokesman told B'Chadrei Charedim: "The IDF knew in the past and will know in the future to respond to any outline on Haredi recruitment, which will be formulated by the government, and make the necessary adjustments to it. We do not intend to address internal discussions held on the subject."
