ARE THE Tax Authorities against wedding planners in the Haredi sector?

B'Chadrei Charedim has learned that recently Tax Authority representatives in the Dan region contacted haredi families who held events in the last 3 years in various halls demanding by law to receive details about the service providers. The notice spread among service providers who panicked and called: "not to cooperate".

Some of the requests were made by phone. Representatives from the Assessing Officer asked the families to transfer to them the information by fax or email. Other inquiries were made through a letter placed in the private mailbox of the same families. In the letter a representative in the office demanded to know the "details of the planner and the amount paid to each one."

Between services providers emphasized at the Tax Authorities, "Catering Services, singer, DJ, keyboardist, guitarist, drums, trumpet player, sound and photographer for this event." In the letter tax officials also demanded to get the name of the promoter who produced the event.

It was also known that most applications were made to families living in the center to hold events in Bnei Brak halls.
It is estimated that the Tax Authorities are interested in starting to follow the service providers in the Haredi sector after learning that in recent years some conceal tax from certain events. Based on the information they receive from the public they can drill and interrogate the service providers.

In recent days the news spread about the search of the organizers of the event and other service providers in the Haredi sector events. Some panicked in wake of the fact they didn’t always work "on the books".

Anonymous message circulated on social networks guided by service providers apparently called not to cooperate with the Tax Authorities: "Something terrible is going to happen in the coming days in the Haredi community," the statement said. The Tax Authorities hope that the public will forget for a moment their orthodox Jewish identity and go against severe restrictions".

The statement further noted: "If you cooperate with them, for the first time in Israel's history a truly appalling situation will be created! It would be really a state of sword brother against brother and families who will be left with literally nothing!"
Things presented with absolute anonymity authors have raised the possibility that if one cooperates with tax officials, "hundreds if not thousands of families may go towards bankruptcy. Praying and hoping that G-d will remove from us also this trouble," they wrote.

Note that regardless of the ultra-Orthodox sector, the tax authority has the "Red Line for information", known as the "tip line" which citizens call and report on business owners and service providers who do not pay taxes legally.
