While most observant Jews in the Jewish community in the United States woke up Friday morning, went to shul and went about their business for Shabbos, the Jewish community in Boston were forced to stay indoors following the ensuing police hunt for 19 year old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev , the suspect and his brother who was killed, for their involvement in the marathon finish line bombing.

"I am a Baal Koreh in three different places," said Shalom Payne, a resident of Brighton in a conversation with VIN news site. "I read in an early minyan, and later I go to the Chabad minyan. If they do not remove the siege of the city, I'm in trouble. There is great fear to wander the streets, this man is holding a rifle and grenades, I do not want to go outside."

Local shaliach Rabbi Yossi Zaklus, said before Shabbos: "the streets are pretty deserted. I look at the street which is usually crowded with people, I see one car here, I would not say there is a sense of panic, but the atmosphere is tense."
David Weiner, a resident of Brighton near the town of Watertown where searches were conducted for the second terrorist, said he witnessed all searches conducted by his house. "Policemen and police cars area all over the area; nobody is on the street; no one wants to come out. It is almost impossible to see civilian vehicles."

Weiner said that despite the siege on homes in some areas, certain institutional studies were conducted as normal.

Esther Fenton is one of the residents living in the area vacated by the police after it was revealed that the terrorist was hiding in the area. "We really do not know what is happening", she testified prior to Tsarnaev's arrest, "we received an e-mail from the community that we may have to give up the davening in shul during Shabbos." She said the family intends to leave the area and go to her mother. "Maybe we can go for a few days," she said.

At the end of the hunt, which ended early Shabbos morning, 19 year old Tsarnaev was caught, in a boat in the backyard in the town of Watertown. Tsarnaev was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
