Terror in Lakewood: foreign workers attack orthodox-looking people

Fear reigns in the surrounding neighborhoods of Yeshiva high school, Lakewood: dozens of cases of assault and robbery occurred in recent weeks in these neighborhoods, especially in the area where the train tracks are.

A letter written in Hebrew hanging yesterday (Tuesday) in the Orthodox concentrations in the city, warns the public of walking in deserted areas along the tracks, where foreign workers are pending, who recently attacked brutally in the evening and night women and men who looked Orthodox, beat them and robbed their property.

The ad reads, "great danger in our area, we were asked by rabbis and officials of the city to announce that for a few weeks occurred at least six events involving in danger of women in the train tracks area near our neighborhood, and each and everyone should be especially careful, especially the women, who go to that area at night without a companion".

Yankee Schmilovitz, a Shomrim volunteer, Lakewood, told B'Chadrei Charedim: "There is a serious problem with foreign workers. Almost every yeshiva or any store owned by the orthodox employ foreign workers, Hispanic or Mexican. In the evening, when they finish their work, they get together on street corners, and many of them are trying to complete the meager salaries by robbery, and breaking into homes or cars. "

"Apparently they discovered very quickly that the haredi public and Orthodox women in particular, are easy prey. Recently there have been several cases of assault and robbery along the railroad which crosses the city Lakewood diagonally through the streets in which the haredi public lives, Cribar Avenue, James Street, Cross , Cedar Bridge, Street No. 7 – where the yeshiva is located and more. The train tracks are deserted most of the day except for a passing freight train every few days, and Orthodox women have used it for a shortcut.
