In a building next to the building where the previous ignition occurred, a haredi tenant noticed that the mezuzah on his doorpost was burned. The tennant rushed to call the police and leaders of Hashomrim.

The police arrived with reinforcements, but did nothing. The owner of the burned mezuzah relates: "This is not the first time it happens to me. "A haredi neighbor who lives on the floor of the young gentile said that the young woman walks around the nearby building where 11 mezuzos were burned the day before," relates the man in whose home a mezuzah was set on fire, asking to remain anonymous for fear of retribution from his gentile neighbor.

The police say that it holds a security camera film showing a young white man in his 20's wearing a purple bandana on his head and a black jacket, with the word New York on his shoulder, passing in the hall at the time of the burning of the mezuzahs.

Haredi City Councilman David Greenfield promised a reward of 4000 dollars, with the assistance of activist Rabbi Avraham Yaakov Friedman, to whoever will bring to the capture of the mezuzah igniter.
