"We'll arouse protests throughout the world," the heads and Dayanim of Badatz Eda Haredis threaten in a letter published in the journal 'Ha'eda' which is published every weekend and deals with recruiting yeshiva students.
The letter signed by the Av Beis Din, Hgri"t Weiss, the Ra'avad, Hagaon Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch and members of the BADATZ reads: "Es tzara hi le'Yaakov. This time the government intends to recruit observant Jews and yeshiva students into the army against the religion of our holy Torah.
"And this danger is very great and vast, for their intention to break down the Haredim in Israel, and our future is in danger."
The rabbis saw a need to repeat the instruction in the letter not to appear in the recruit centers, "and if they bring them to jail for the failure to report we will arouse protests throughout the world," they wrote. "And certainly not to cooperate with them for they might, heaven forbid, cause the destruction of Judaism."
Behadrey Haredim learned that in the near future the Eda plans to hold another rally against the draft. The Rabbonim suggest this in the letter, "We call upon all the house of Israel in Israel and in the Diaspora to be prepared for a mighty protest against the decrees on yeshiva students and all fearing Jews in the Holy Land."
It was further learned that recently there have been efforts made to recruit more Chasidic communities to the rally.
