Shadow of mourning • Shabbos with Hgr"o Yosef

This past Shabbos the three chairmen of the Shas spent in the presence of Hgr"o Yosef, following the funeral of his oldest son, Rabbi Yakov Yosef which was held on Friday, shortly before Shabbos.

Maariv was attended by all three: MK Eli Yishai, MK Aryeh Deri and MK Ariel Atias, when after davening each one of them went up to the Rabbi to wish him a Good Shabbos.

The Shabbos morning seuda, like every Shabbos, ate MK Eli Yishai, along with his family, at the Rabbi's home, immediately after davening. MK Atias joined the davening at the Rabbi's home.

During the Shabbos meal the Rabbi said Divrei Torah, as every Shabbos, this time he spoke specifically about who taught Torah: "He had considerable difficulty," says Yishai, though of course the Rabbi overcame the grief due to the feeling of Shabbos.
"I'm going to stay with the Rabbi during the week," says Yishai, "especially during the visits of the Rabbi immediately after prayers, but when it comes to important personalities the visits will be coordinated with the Rabbi's home during the various times of day."

To seuda shlishit MK Deri came, together with his family, as every Shabbos.

During the meal, Aryeh raised memories of the days when Rabbi Yaakov zt"l was MK. At that time it was common that Rabbis served as MK's in Shas M (Rabbi Azran, Rabbi Peretz, etc.), "His uniqueness was that he would sit in the Knesset with an open sefer and study for hours."

Tomorrow, Hgray"l Steinman plans on coming to the shiva as well as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. President Shimon Peres comforted him tonight by telephone.
