Disaster in the North: Six killed in car accident

Serious accident between a truck and seven vehicles on Bar Yehuda in Nesher, six people were killed and 12 wounded. Three of them seriously, two moderately, and the rest mildly.

Accident fatalities in Nesher are Dahas Amun, 17, Raed Omar, 40, Karim Dabah, 18, and his cousin Adab Dabah, 18, residents of the village of Deir al-Assad.

Two other victims are Riyadh Darawshe, 45, and his nephew, Ahmed Darawshe, 17, residents of the village Iksel.

The accident occurred at around 16:15: A Semi Truck – Trailer weighing 34 tons, came from the neighborhood of Denia, was unable to stop at the decline to Nesher – before the Hinuma intersection through Kfar Yehuda, and collided with cars, some of which went on fire.

Large forces of Hatzalah and Zaka were sent there immediately together with police. Within a short time all the wounded were evacuated to Rambam Hospital, Carmel and Bnei Zion.

The truck belonged to a Palestinian Arab driver, who was injured mild to moderate. Police investigated the possibility that the incident was racially motivated, but eventually it became clear that this is a technical problem.

Unfortunately six people involved in the accident were killed. Hatzalah volunteers provided primary medical care to victims, who were then evacuated to hospitals. Police are examining the circumstances. "

Chezki Farkas operations officer at Zaka said "I arrived a few minutes after the accident, I was sure that this is a terrorist incident as the scene was more difficult than a terrorist attack scene, ZAKA volunteers, ambulance and rescue organizations ran from one wounded to another and provided medical care, I felt like I was on a battlefield . After evacuating the wounded we began to treat the bodies of the dead. This is an unusual and hard event."

Zevulun police chief, Commander Ilan Sardal, said that after an initial investigation of the incident it is clear that it was an accident and not an intentional event. Sardal added: "There is much to explore on the technical condition of the vehicle, the weight, if he was licensed trailer and more, before it can be determined what caused the difficult accident." He said the driver called for help whilst driving.
