Two terrorists arrested • Plan: Bus explosion in Beit Shemesh

Cleared for publication: ISA and Israel Police unraveled the stabbing which took place on 23 January 2013 at Tapuach in Samaria, when an Israeli civilian was seriously wounded. That same day the suspect was arrested, who admitted carrying out the attack and reconstructed it.

The terrorist is Mustafa Adel Mustafa Barghouti, a resident of Bitrima in the Benjamin area, 23, a student at Al - Najah University in Nablus, who was arrested after a short pursuit by police officers, who were near the scene of the attack and identified the events.

During the General Security Service interrogation, Barghouti admitted carrying out the attack and another activity, including mass terror activity against IDF forces several years ago.

As for the stabbing attack, he said that he acted on his own, without partners, with the initial goal was to kill a soldier. He added that the decision to carry out the attack was received that morning, and, after arranging his curriculum at the university – took a taxi service to Tapuach junction. He searched for about half an hour after a soldier, as a destination to carry out the attack, and after not finding a suitable candidate, decided to stab one of the citizens, who was hitchhiking at the station at the intersection.

Barghouti expressed no remorse for his actions, and said that for him there is no meaning if the victim died of his wounds.

In -7/3/13 he was indicted, attributing an offense concerning his trial to manslaughter, and the offense of attempt to carry, possession and manufacture of weapons.

Planned on bombing a charedi bus in Beit Shemesh

On 4 February 2013 a stabbing attack took place on Sultan Suleiman Street in east Jerusalem, during which an Israeli civilian was wounded. The knife hit the prayer book carried in his pocket, thus preventing more severe wounds.

Jerusalem Police at the scene arrested the perpetrator, Samer Ahmed Mahmoud Matar, aged 28, a resident of Idna village in southern Hebron hills, and transferred him for interrogation by the GSS, in which he admitted the stabbing performance, adding that three months ago he began planning to murder an Orthodox Jew or a settler.

A few days before the attack he infiltrated into Jerusalem as an illegal citizen, and stayed in the east area of the city to carry out the attack.

In addition, he admitted intentions to other attacks, including the possibility he considered a few months ago, to place an explosive he produced himself, on a bus transporting the ultra-Orthodox in Beit Shemesh.

It should be noted that Matar, a Hamas activist, who was detained in administrative detention in 2009-2011, due to activity in the Hamas organization and planning military operations, now admitted during his interrogation that beyond the planning and execution of attacks stabbing, continued its activities in Hamas.

Against Samer Matar an indictment was brought attributing his two counts of attempted manslaughter, membership in an illegal organization and execution of service for an unlawful association, contact with the enemy, and manufacturing weapons.
