Escalation in tension between North Korea the United States.
North Korea's military warned that it may attack today (Thursday), the U.S.A. Meanwhile it was reported this morning that North Korea probably transported medium-range missiles "Mosodan" to its east coast, across from Japan.
Yesterday, Army Chief of Staff of North Korea announced that he has received approval of a nuclear attack on the United States. "The operation was approved, we'll smash the American threats," the North Korean chief of staff threatened.
The threat came shortly after the Pentagon announced that U.S. military will place a protection system against ballistic missiles on the island of Guam in the western Pacific.
In the statement, quoted by the official news agency of North Korea, said the chief of staff: "We officially announce to the White House and the Pentagon that the policy of hostility toward North Korea, which is escalating constantly and your irresponsible nuclear threats, will be crushed under the strong desire of the innovative and advanced nuclear program of North Korea, which possesses smaller, lighter and more varied nuclear means. The relentless campaign of armed forces of the revolution was tested, and finally approved."
The Korean News Agency statement said that "the explosion moment is approaching fast, No one can say whether or not war will break out in Korea and if it breaks today or tomorrow."
Shortly before the U.S. Defense Department announced that the U.S. would put a THAAD ballistic missile defense on the island of Guam. That is as part of the regional strengthening defense against the North Korean missile threat.
"The United States stands on guard against North Korean provocations and will protect all its territory, its allies and its national interests," said Pentagon spokesman.
U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Heigel referred to the escalation in East Asia and said that "threats of regime in Pyongyang are a clear and present danger for the United States and its allies, given their nuclear and ballistic ability."
