Satmar Hasid helped authorities of the United States to criminalize senior politicians in a bribery affair which is stirring New York.

Satmar has been starring this eek in the bribery affair of a former Senate President who is running for mayor of New York. The man was arrested along with five senior politicians who were involved in bribery.

Charges were filed yesterday (Wednesday) against six officials in New York, in a bribery case, meant to ensure for Senator Malcolm Smith, the Republican party's appointment to head New York.

Smith, who represents the Queens area in the Senate of the State of New York, was one of five renegade Democrats who participated last year in establishing a coalition with Republicans.

According to the public prosecution, 56-year-old Smith wanted to bribe party officials, so he could run this year for mayor of New York.

The other defendants are a New York City Council member, Daniel Halloran, a Republican from Queens, and Republican Party officials, Vincent Vebon and Joseph Savino.

The defendants, who were accused of six counts, including fraud and conspiracy in the case revealed today, may be sent to dozens of years in prison, if convicted.

Smith is suspected that he promised an FBI agent, posing as a real estate developer with ties to tycoons in New York, that he will bribe senior politicians to act for paving the road construction project that will help the real estate developer - in return for recruiting key personnel to support his candidacy for mayor of New York.

Smith also was suspected of offering money to Republican politicians to support him in the elections for mayor, and will help him to be able to run as a Republican, despite being a registered as Democrat.

It turns out that the offending person is Moshe Stern, a 40 years old Satmar chossid who lives in Monsey, who studied at the Satmar yeshiva at Kiryat Yoel, a real estate man, also known as Maurice Stern.

His name made headlines in 2007 when he became entangled in a fraud and attempted fraud affair for the amount of $ 100 million.

Three weeks ago, Stern admitted guilt and to reduce his sentence, he agreed to join forces with another agent and implicate the politicians.
