President Peres: "gas flow while desecrating Shabbos - Error"

Sending of the haredim the opposition did not prevent President Shimon Peres to hold his traditional visits to the home of Hgr"o Yosef: Every year, on the eve of the 7th day of Pesach, the president came to the Rabbi's home on Hakablan Street in Jerusalem. The meeting was attended by two Shas leaders; Aryeh Deri and Eli Yishai.

Part of the meeting the two discussed in private, without the presence of all the media.

The issue of recruitment was the background of the holiday visit, during which Hgr"o said to President Peres: "the Torah protects Israel. As long as Israel engages in Torah – G-d will not leave us. The president said to Hgr"o that it took the children of Israel 40 years to cross the desert, although this can be done in less time.

"The desert on the ground - you can cross in 40 days, but to go from slavery to freedom in the heart - takes 40 years," the president said.

Then the President went to visit the chief rabbis of Israel, Rabbi Yona Metzger and Rishon Letzion Rabbi Shlomo Amar. Rabbi Amar heard from the president that he thought the gas flow at "Tamar" causing violation of Shabbos - was a mistake. President Peres expressed his hope that Rabbi Amar will serve as Chief Rabbi for many years.
