The Rebbe of Satmar
Last Shabbos, Satmar marked the seventh anniversary of the demise of the Rebbe the Barech Moshe of Satmar zt"l.
The seudahs were held on Motzaei Shabbos all concentrations of the Hasidism. The central hillula took place at the large Beis Midrash in the city of Kiryat Yoel, led by the Satmar Rebbe.
During the Rebbe's speech, he said at first, that he is sure that his father continues to appear in the heavens and pray for all his talmidim and Klal Yisroel. Later, he once again elaborated on the terrible decree hovering over the Jews of Israel, when the government seeks to recruit yeshiva students and impose sanctions and decrees on those who refuse to join. Recently, the Rebbe uses every possible stage, to raise the serious problem which oppressed and bothers him.
"A black cloud is descending nowadays on our fellow inhabitants of the Holy Land of Israel," thundered the Rebbe, "when the government convened with a malice advice that says 'Hava nischakma lo pen yirbe'. Government leaders want to uproot the Torah. Jews here (in the U.S.) probably do not understand and internalize the greatness of the disaster and the decree. This is a decree on each individual. This decree is more terrible in its severity than the extermination of Am Yisroel, G-d forbid. Chazal have said, "gadol hamachtio yoser min hahorgo", so those who want to make us leave religion are worse than those who murdered us throughout the ages."
"Therefore we who reside in the diaspora, have to face the evil, and stand ready for the moment when we have to fight all our might against this terrible decree that will not be executed G-d forbid."
