Spinka: Rebbe was saved from an explosion at the bakery - and held a kiddush

Spinka Rebbe of Jerusalem held a kiddush on Shabbos after davening, at the home of his father the Gedulos Mordechei zt"l to thank for the great miracle he encountered on erev Pesach.

This was when the Rebbe came along with his entourage, to bake matzos mitzvah on erev Pesach at the matzah bakery located on Edmond Street in Jerusalem.

In midst of baking, there was a sudden explosion of the gas pipe that fed the oven.

The leak caused a backlash, resulting in shattered glass windows of the bakery, and various items that were there were shattered.

Fortunately, no one was injured. The Rebbe and his followers, as well as all employees at the bakery, fled the place in panic. The bakery managers gained control of the gas cylinder and closed the gas flow to the furnace. The pipe was disabled and the gas cylinder was connected to a replacement pipe.

After several minutes, they resumed baking matzos. Reciting of Hallel, recited during the preparation of matzos mitzvah, was said with extra emotion, in thanksgiving for the miracle they encountered a few minutes ago.
