Ostreicher under house arrest: "I will turn to the International Court"
abc news

Haredi businessman Yaakov Ostreicher, who was detained a long time in Bolivia, and released four months ago under house arrest, held a press conference yesterday (Wednesday) in which he announced that he intended to transfer his case to the International Court for discussion.

He says he was kept in prison for months, despite that the tribunal had no incriminating evidence against him, and after he was released to house arrest - signs of procrastination and things are not progressing.

According to Bolivian law, if a person is released to house arrest - the court must decide within 45 days whether to continue the proceedings against him or release him completely. If the police cannot find any incriminating evidence, the case should be closed immediately and release the defendant. But as stated, Ostreicher is staying under house arrest in the city of Santa Cruz for four months, and nothing progresses.
Dror chairman, Rabbi Yoel Lavine, who is accompanying Ostreicher since the beginning of the affair, told B'Chadrei Charedim that activists involved in the case, along with Ostreicher's lawyers are working with the authorities to allow Ostreicher to travel to the capital La Paz, so that he could spend Pesach at the Chabad House in the city.

Chabad House in La Paz is expected to reach hundreds of participants for the Seder, and there are minyanim that do not exist in Santa Cruz. If indeed he could get to Chabad for Pesach other family members arriving from New York will join him.
