Serious allegations against Rabbi Eliezer Berland, head of the Shuvu Banim institutions, continue to make waves among his followers.

Today (Sunday) another suspect involved in the shooting at the door of a home in the neighborhood of Meah Shearim in Jerusalem, an event that took place against the background of the serious complaints against Rabbi Berland, turned himself in to police

The suspect was arrested and brought to extend his detention tomorrow at 11 o'clock, at the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court.

Despite attempts to silence, the case is gaining momentum and today Rabbi Berland's followers announced that next Tuesday they will hold a prayer at the Western Wall at around 19:00 pm.
In a statement disciples issued they wrote that prayer is for "success, health and cancelling of the terrible decree Rabbi Eliezer Berland has taken upon himself."

Organizers say the rally has no official support from the Shuvu Banim institutions, yet they estimate that hundreds of students of institutions will participate in the rally.

At the same time, accurate information has not yet been published about the timing of the return of the Rabbi to Israel and his appearance for questioning. Institution seniors continue to meet and consult with his lawyer - Attorney Yaakov Weinroth, but they refuse to provide information about meetings and advice.

Shooting case

A week and a half ago, the Jerusalem District Attorney District Court filed an indictment against Itai Nachman Shalom, Aaron Yaakov Richter and David Avraham Shemtov, 18, 27 and 19 respectively, who live in Jerusalem and Be'er Yaakov.

The three are accused of offenses including possession of weapons, shooting in urban areas and assault and aggravated injury.

The story began with spreading of serious complaints Shalom held against Rabbi Berland.

According to the indictment Rabbi Berland was quoted telling Richter and Shemtov to "beat Shalom and break his bones". These are the background for his complaints.
At the end of month of Shevat, they captured Shalom near the Nechama Bakery in the Meah Shearim neighborhood in Jerusalem, beat him and slapped him.

And again on 5th Adar, at about 2:00, Shalom was in the synagogue 'the shul' in Meah Shearim. Shemtov came up, and asked him to come out and help him find a place to stay.

Shalom came out, then was attacked by Richter and Shemtov, until people came and moved them away. As a result of their actions, Shalom needed medical treatment, and had four stitches in his head.

Later, Shalom called his brother, Rami, and asked him to bring his weapon. Then, Shalom met with Rami, Nati (another brother) and another man whose identity is not known.
At about 4:00 in the morning, Shalom came with his brother - Rami and Nati, to the Richter apartment on Edmond street in the Meah Shearim neighborhood, they kicked the door and fled.

At around 5:00, they went back to the scene, carrying a 9 mm handgun and shot at the door of the apartment three shots. One of the shots penetrated the door.

Following the shooting, an investigation opened at the Crime and International Investigation Unit which launched a serious investigation centered on a community leader.
Less than a day after the shooting Itai Nachman Shalom who was with his mother in Eilat was arrested. A few days later David Shemtov and Aaron Richter were arrested, on suspicion of aggravated assault.

Above are accused of bearing arms, shooting in urban area, aggravated assault and aggravated injury, and are currently under house arrest for two months.
