Israel prepares for the arrival of U.S. President Barack Obama. Preparing of police and security forces is underway. In Meah Shearim too, greeting posters were hung in honor of the arrival of the President 'almighty'.
In honor of the visit security operation was announced which will last for three days, between 20-22.03.2013
Operations will engage all districts and police departments and 5000 police will take part in it directly. During the operation, additional offcers will be added to the 100 emergency centers, to respond to citizens and a service and information center will be established which will begin its operation on Tuesday 19:03:13 to give telephone answers to citizens and with regular reports on Facebook and on the website of the Israel Police.
During the operation, police will announce which alert police will work 12 hours a day and will a NPMC (National Police Management Center) whose mission is to create a series of reports and providing real-time snapshot in coordination with all relevant parties taking part in the operation.
A forward command will be established in the capital to command and coordinate powers and besides the main command over 1,000 police officers also will secure the hotel and the U.S. President and his entourage at the presidential helicopter landing pad, the International Convention Center, the President's home, Prime Minister's House, on Mount Herzl, Yad Vashem, Israel Museum, roads, convoy and elsewhere.
During the visit of the President of the United States, Route 1 Jerusalem - Tel Aviv will be secured from the airport towards Jerusalem for the movement of convoys and will be closed only if necessary.
Also, roads will be blocked in Jerusalem, according to municipal need. Deployed police forces will do everything in order to facilitate the 804 000 residents of Jerusalem so they can go on with their lives.
15,000 police forces
• 15 000 police officers will take part in the hosting of the President of the United States and 600 members of his entourage.
• 12 hours - Duration shift of police officers a day in the special alert.
• 3000 policemen will be reinforced each day the Jerusalem district with 804,000 inhabitants.
• Route 1 Jerusalem - Tel Aviv will be secured from the airport towards Jerusalem for movement of convoys. More than 20 vehicles and police motorcycles will escort the convoy of VIPs.
• 2000 fences will be dispersed during the operation and 50 scooters will be used, 25 trucks, 100 buses each day and hundreds of patrol vehicles, motorcycles, vehicles, officers and traffic. Every day 35 riders and horses will be used.
• 400 Logistics people will take care of the supply of 50,000 food rations and lodgings of 1,500 police officers every night.Full timetable:
