Plague • huge swarm of locusts penetrated Israel from Egypt

An additional locust swarm crossed the Egyptian – Israeli border in the afternoon today (Saturday).

A huge swarm of locusts penetrated from Egypt to Israel and settled in Ramat Negev Regional Council. Like every day over the last two weeks a large swarm of locusts arrived, this time the swarm is particularly large.

In the swarm many females were observed which may lay eggs. The Ministry of Agriculture are following the night parking site of the swarm, with the aim of starting to spray in the morning from the air.

Large amounts of locusts coming from Egypt to Israel over the last two weeks were mostly destroyed by combined air and ground spraying. Parts of these swarms were able to get to the center of the country and even to the north.

Big swarms, including billions of grasshoppers, are still in Egypt, and Israel meteorologists monitor data in Sinai, since on that depends whether the billions of locusts will come from Egypt to Israel.
