15-year-old Haredi in Safed seriously injured while sawing an old bomb

A boy of about 15, from a Haredi family, resident of Safed, was seriously injured this afternoon while handling an old explosive.

At 13:34 it was reported to MDA Jordan District about a boy who was injured, apparently when tampering with old explosives in an apartment on Ari street in Safed.

MDA paramedics gave the boy medical treatment, and took him in serious but stable condition, while fully conscious, with multi-system damage - to the 'Ziv' hospital in the city.

Yehuda Maman, North police spokesman, told Behadrey Haredim that this was an old shell which the boy found and brought home, where he tried to saw it with a disc.

Safed police opened an investigation.

Nachman Klein, head of Ichud Hatzala Galil, who gave medical treatment to the boy, told Behadrey Haredim that part of the boy's foot was amputated due to the explosives, and he was burned all over his body.
