Beit Shemesh police station arrested a suspect for questioning who robbed the Leumi Bank in the city, this afternoon. The suspect, 50 from the center of the country, was arrested near his home.

Late morning, a robbery occurred at the branch of Leumi Bank on Nahal Zohar in an ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Ramat Beit Shemesh A. A masked gunman entered the bank, handed the clerk a note on which was written: "This is an armed robbery" - and demanded the money.

The clerk gave him some money and he fled. Police began searching for the suspect with the assistance of a police helicopter.

A short time ago Beit Shemesh police station were able to arrest the suspect in the robbery, and in his possession was a wig, a plastic gun and note which he submitted to the bank clerk, which said: "This is an armed robbery."

Photographer Yaakov Lederman, who lives close to the branch where the robbery was carried out, told B'Chadrei Charedim: "I was at home; I heard the helicopter and went downstairs. The street was full of police cars and a helicopter was searching for the robber."
