Tonight (Thursday) the Minister Yuli Edelstein submitted his resignation as Minister of Information and Diaspora, after the Likud faction selected him as a candidate to serve as chairman of the Knesset faction.

The letter sent to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, wrote: "I have today unanimously been elected by the Likud - Yisrael Beiteinu faction as a candidate for the 19th Knesset. As a result, I wish to submit my resignation as Minister of Information and Diaspora in the 32nd government in the State of Israel.

"I was privileged to serve as a cabinet minister whose position you headed for the last four years, the government which contended in the best way with the difficult challenges that stood in the doorstep - a variety of areas relating to our lives, in a responsible and reasonable way."

Edelstein concludes: "I am convinced that your 33rd government will continue to lead the State of Israel and bring to achievement in all areas."
