Members at the Heichel Yitzchak shul in Kiryat Sefer, were surprised yesterday (Tuesday), when one of the men who comes to the shul from time to time, said before davening that is ready to pay the last electricity bill amounting to more than eight thousand shekels.

The grand contribution in reference to what is generally accepted in the concepts of shuls, became the talk of the city.

Heichel Yitzchal is one of the dominant shuls in the city, and is a focal point and a magnet for thousands of prayers and studying. Due to a deficit in the fund, the last electricity bill was not paid and an ad announcing it was hung on the bulletin board. Gabbaim called upon members of the shul to raise their contribution, so they would not be disconnected from the electricity.

The donor was Rabbi Daniel Maskita, a resident of the settlement of Talmon, located near Modi'in Illit.

In a conversation with B'Chadrei Charedim Maskita explains his motives to the generous contribution. "I cannot ignore the baseless hatred bubbling recently against the Haredi community, by Habayit Hayehudi party. The response against the hatred is just free love. I thought to myself, what can I do to increase the love we are so in need of especially now.

"We need to pray that such a government will not be that established. A new government which has started out on the wrong foot, crushing the Haredi sector and its values, is the worst thing, and everyone has to pray and perhaps take steps to prevent this situation. I resolved in my heart, that I will try to contribute something for the sake of peace.

Yesterday morning, when he saw the ad asking the public to contribute, it ignited the spark that burns continuously. He went to the chairman of the synagogue, Rabbi Moshe Shlesinger, and informed him that he takes upon himself the charge of electricity.

Gabbaim announced to Makita that the rule set by chazal, 'publishe those who do mitzvahs', a secret donation is not enough, and a mi sheberach must be held for him, after kryias hatorah of Rosh Chodesh.

"I am a humble person and I do not seek publicity, but I had no choice. They forced me," he humbly apologized.

Indeed, the gabbai announced during the mi sheberach the name of the donor, who donated a grand amount for the shul, "to destroy the emerging government, plotting to impose cuts on the people of Israel, and shall not come into being."

Shlesinger also gave Maskita as a gift the book, 'Hakol Yeshabchucha' on the Seder night, with a dedication to a 'friend of the shul'.
