Israeli ultra-Orthodox, who came to Zimbabwe last week from Israel, bringing matzos and wine for distribution among the Jews of Zimbabwe, was kidnapped last night - by masked men.
Abduction took place on the main street of the city Harare - Zimbabwe's capital city, with a population of about one hundred Jewish families, when a car stopped suddenly beside him and out came two masked youths, who powerfully put him in the car and drove to a destination out of town.
After 12 hours, the man was released unexpectedly.
An activist who was in touch with the family of the kidnapped man, refused to expand on the case. He just said that the young kidnappers belong to a crime gang in the city, and the purpose of kidnapping was to extort a ransom from the family of the kidnapped.
The activist said that when the kidnapped man will return to Israel, more details will be released. In the City of Harare the nursing home is used as a synagogue during the week where prayers are held three times a day. On Shabbos there are prayers at the community building.
