Equality outlines on the agreed burden: economic sanctions

After a long night of negotiations in the coalition agreement, at 4:00 am the teams made a break in discussions. Today at 12:00 pm all teams will resume the talks, and Netanyahu, Lapid, Bennett and Lieberman are expected to meet again during the day.

Last night, following the meeting between the Prime Minister, the Yesh Atid Chairman, and Habayit Hayehudi chairman of and Avigdor Lieberman, as well as following the meetings of the teams, there was progress in talks, but still not close at all to the agreements that will allow the signing of a coalition agreement.

Intensive discussions surrounding the controversy on the distribution of portfolios and the number of ministers who will serve in the government, the Likud-Beitenu negotiating teams, Yesh Atid and Habayit Hayehudi worked in the past few also on the outline of equality burden.

While some of the agreed outline specifications were already known, Ma'ariv, reported the sanctions imposed on yeshiva students who choose to act contrary to the law and stabilize for military or civilian service.

According to Ma'ariv, the sanctions package, which was decided upon is almost identical to the conclusions of the Plesner Committee, which Netanyahu and the orthodox parties opposed to.

Currently it seems that the criminal sanctions against avoiding service will not be included in the final outline, but economic sanctions are expected to be extremely severe: among other things they are supposed to include the prohibition to leave the country, denying tax credits income and benefits, grants and exempt, except for allowances based on provided by Social Security, required by law and everyone is entitled to.

The sanctions also include the cancellation of the avrech in national insurance.
Those incurring economic losses are also the yeshivas. In yeshivas where it becomes clear that they encourage evasion of military or civilian service, they will face significant blow to their budgets.

As of last night, the main debate between the negotiating teams of the Likud Beitenu and Yesh Atid focuses on the question of which party will get the education portfolio. Behind Likud's insistence on the portfolio are actually the orthodox parties, operating pressure on Netanyahu to insist to keep the file by Gideon Sa'ar, because the office controls substantial parts of the Haredi yeshiva budgets.
