Chairman and President • Why did Lieberman push to outcast Rivlin?
1. Lieberman wants David Levy as president • 2. It is preferable that MK Reuven Rivlin will come into the race for the presidency without the title of Knesset chairman • Solution: out casting • Consideration to Netanyahu: Giving up Ministry

Exactly three months ago we revealed here – in B'Chadrei Charedim – for the first time, the emerging deal between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and MK Avigdor Lieberman: "to place the party candidate for president the former foreign minister, David Levy - the man who retired from political life in 2006, and has been trying not to be involved, as well as not be interviewed by the media."
As part of the deal, Avigdor Lieberman decided, at some point, to combine MK Yuli Edelstein in the emerging plan - and to support him as Knesset chairman. The fact that MK Reuven Rivlin would not be in the race for the presidency position of chairman of the Knesset, can affect the chances, and also if Netanyahu and Lieberman's support will not be given – the chances are declining.
Netanyahu's office denied the feasibility report as a first step. According to Rivlin's people, in talks between the Prime Minister and chairman of the Knesset, Netanyahu assured him not to worry, and that he will support him in the race for the role of Chairman. The role of the presidency has not yet been spoken, as it is not on the immediate agenda.
Rivlin and his men believed to have argued that they are "pretty calm." On the other hand, I've heard around the Minister Yuli Edelstein, that they have also been promised the job, by the same Netanyahu. They wanted to believe that the promise is based.
In recent days, the picture began to emerge. It turns out that the power struggle between Lieberman (requiring the appointment of Yuli Edelstein) and Netanyahu - won the first. Within the Likud ranks a real internal intifada is being conducted, in an attempt to protect the surface of 'their man' (Reuven Rivlin).
If the election of MK Yuli Edelstein is approved as chairman of the Knesset, Netanyahu can take one less headache pill since the need to see him as a minister is removed, since it is a valuable role these days since MK Yair Lapid requires cutting the number of ministers. In return to Edelstein's selection, Lieberman may reward him by giving up the role of minister from his party, perhaps over the head of the Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch (israel Beiteinu chairman states exclusively), and will hand over another role for Minister to a Likud MK.
While the role of Knesset chairman was bound in party discipline and the support of the prime minister has meaning concerning his party MKs vote, the choice of president is much more complicated business, a secret ballot, every man for himself, so Rivlin still has the chance to win the job.
In the background is the pretty cloudy relationship between the chairman and the Prime Minister, one which knew ups with downs. Reuven Rivlin is an opinionated man, walking with his truth to the end, and Netanyahu was not always like this. This was when Rivlin voted for the law regulation, contrary to Netanyahu as well as other issues.
It is not that Yuli Edelstein is a "doll", and may not cause headache for Netanyahu, especially when it comes on the agenda of the issue of freezing or other political concessions. Remember, Edelstein was part of Likud rebels during the disengagement. "But Bibi does not see far," said Rivlin's environment, and accuse Netanyahu of being disloyal, and a momentary surrender to pressure from Lieberman.
