New evidence revealed today (Monday) at Army Radio on the alleged actions of the Breslov Hasidic community leader, suspected of assaulting women and girls in his community.
Community leader - close to Knesset members, ministers and officers - is currently staying in the United States, after fleeing following a police investigation which was opened against him.
According to the report of the journalist Hadas Taipei, lawyer, Yaakov Weinroth went to meet him where he is staying abroad to persuade him to return to Israel.
Community leader, aged over 70, featured many times in the media and close to senior police officers, parliamentarians and ministers, is the man police seek to investigate on suspicion for alleged attacks of women and girls in his community.
Army Radio, received evidence of serious acts committed by the leader on women and girls, including the testimony of one of his followers, the father of two girls, who describes what the rabbi did to his daughters. "My daughter was 15 then; she told me a week after it happened. She would go there to hear shiurim in the evening, the Rabbi's room was dark ... "he said.
The evidence generated in the girl's older sister similar memories of three years ago, when she was 17 and came to the rabbi. The father learned, it is believed, that even his older daughter was the victim of similar acts.
The affair was exposed when one of the disciples looked into the home of the community leader – in his community center in Jerusalem - where he used to meet the women, apparently. What he saw – he told followers. The chassid who testified suffered threats from other followers claimed that he is lying, and handling of the affair reached the police.
When the acts of violence investigation began, there were also strong suspicions against the leader of the community - and the investigation was transferred to the national unit to investigate serious crimes.
According to Army Radio, testimonies raise suspicions that married women entered the room of the community leader, and while her husband is waiting outside – carried out his actions, as he explains that his actions that it is 'Ruach Hakodesh'. "
These days as noted, the community leader is in the United States, after fleeing following the investigation. His attorney, Yaakov Weinroth, went to meet him in an attempt to prepare police testimony - and he is expected to return this week.
"The damage caused to people and women are something forbidden which is forbidden to continue"
Journalist Hanoch Daum posted on his Facebook page this morning:
"Army Radio reported this morning on a Rabbi from Jerusalem who troubled women and fled the country, when he revealed there is an investigation against him.
I am familiar with the case closely, and I gave testimony to the police in which I told them about the brave woman who told me what that Rabbi did to her. I will never tell the details.
The woman complained and after her came more women to complain. Forgive me the presumption of innocence, but I heard the woman. The fear in her voice. The insult. She speaks the absolute truth.
Personally, she had only to lose from filing a complaint, but she showed courage and did it.
Now the news reported that lawyer Weinroth representing Rabbi, if you can call him that, went to persuade his client who fled abroad to come to Israel for questioning.
I do not know anything about it, but I did understand who the "Rabbi" is, and I hope that after the step of persuasion, and he fails, extradition will step in. This Rabbi holds a large community in conditions that are close to a cult. The damage it does to people and women are something that should not continue."
