A family visit planned by an ultra-Orthodox family in Jerusalem Givat Shaul to South Africa was destroyed. On Thursday morning, family members were about to fly to the grandmother in South Africa, but at the Ben-Gurion airport - awaited them an unpleasant surprise: a family member, 20, was arrested - by the police for drug trafficking.
In the afternoon of Friday the drop out teenager was brought before Jerusalem Magistrate's Court, for a remand hearing.
The suspect is accused of exports, imports, trade and supply of dangerous drugs. According to the police, the suspect sold a cannabis drug to a police agent three times. The police demanded to extend the detention for five days, for fear he will leave the country.
Attorney Talia Ram who presented him on behalf of the public defender said: "The suspect did not know he was wanted for questioning, was not summoned and did not flee. The whole family went and he stayed in the country. No attempt was made to find him, and he did not know he was wanted for questioning."
Judge Yaron Mientkavich, with the consent of Attorney, extended the detention of the suspect until tomorrow (Monday) during the afternoon.
Tomorrow the police will present statement demands, for an indictment against him.
Also it shows that the police intended to require the extension of detention until the end of proceedings.
