Abomination in Ashdod? City Rabbi: must prevent parade

In Ashdod was recently revealed the initiative of a number of activists to hold this year, for the first time in the southern city, the 'abomination parade'. But representatives of the ultra-Orthodox community in the city are not excited about the idea, to say the least.

Acting Mayor of Ashdod, Amram Kanfo from Shas, told Yedioth Ashdod: "It's a shame that there is such a phenomenon, shame. But everyone does what he wants. "However, Kanfo noted that the he will not attempt to prevent the incident." It's a shame to that such a parade will be held in the city of Ashdod, and it’s a shame such a community operates here, "he concluded.

Kanfo estimated that there will not be abnormal responses from residents. "The public is tolerant, there were no anomalies in the past, but it just does not fit."
There is one who does not intend to ignore it - Rabbi Yosef Sheinin, chief rabbi of the city. The Rabbi heard of the existence of the event from a newspaper article, and immediately exclaimed: "Oh dear. When? We must prevent this. We are not goyim, we are Jews, and in Judaism it is the worst thing. I'll try to thwart the event, it's good that you tell me.

"There is no place for it in Judaism at all, in the Jewish state. We live in the Jewish state, not the state of the Gentiles'. This is a severe prohibition in the Torah. This is an abomination. It is terrible and should not exist within the people of Israel in general."
