Tragedy in Kiryat Yoel: a young boy of 14 with Down syndrome, died last Erev Shabbos, as a result of a prolonged stay in a scalding bath.
The youngster, suffered of epilepsy. From time to time the boy was seized by prolonged seizures that interfered with his functioning.
The boy took a bath which was too hot, filled by his parents to bathe for Shabbos. During his stay in the water, he had a fatal seizure attack.
No one stayed by his side while he was in the bath and he drowned.
The parents entered only after a few minutes later and found their son lying in the water, breathless.
Rescue teams called to the scene, tried to perform CPR, but efforts failed and the young boy died to the chagrin of the family.
