Rosh Yeshiva of Brisk: "fanaticism of the Hapeles - evil"

Last Motzei Shabbos Rosh Yeshiva of Brisk Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Soloveitchik spoke about current affairs, within the chumash shiur provided to his students, and strongly criticized those who make the fanaticism ax to grind.

In his words Hgra"y said:

"Many have asked me why I do not talk on current affairs and why I'm not crying about the decrees floating on the yeshivas and the Torah? I really thought many times to speak. But I decided not to talk, because there are people who take it and use it to harm others.

"Really, the same people all their zeal is false. We should know that zealotry is not a mitzvah - even if not for what comes out. Fanaticism if not deliberately for His name it is not bigotry, it is wickedness, and the people who came out with a new newspaper, want to use things to hit zeal of evil in others. What changes have been made in the Yated Ne'eman of twenty years ago to the Yated of today? There is no change, then why do they go out all the time with fanaticism? There is fake bigotry and this fake fanaticism is evil."

The Rosh Yeshivas words became the talk of the day among thousands of students and graduates of Yeshiva Brisk who soaked in his words.
