"The Halperin Case in London: Police extended the parole of Rabbi Chaim Halperin - head of Congregation Divrei Chaim, his brother Rabbi David Halperin – community leader in Hendon, and two activists, Gavriel Ost – from the Shomrim in Golders Green, and Alex Strom.
The four were arrested two weeks ago on suspicion of involvement in the affair which stirs the Haredi street for half a year. Rabbi Chaim Halperin, the son of Rabbi Elchanan Halperin – one of the well known rabbis of England - is suspected of attacking women who came to him for advice in matters of Shalom Bayis. Three other detainees were suspected on obstruction of justice.
36 hours later, the four were released from custody on bail and conditions to come forward whenever required. Meanwhile, police continue to investigate intensively the evidence and information that came to its attention.
Yesterday (Tuesday) conditions of the four were extended release until April 11.
Rabbi Halperin was told by police that he was forbidden to leave his home from 22:00 at night until 6 in the morning. In addition, he will have to report to the police station five times a week, to make sure that he would not escape the investigation.
B'Chadrei Charedim has learned that discussions set for this week in the special Beis Din set up to clarify the matter - even before the intervention of the police – will not convene. This is due to the police investigation going on now and the fear that it will cause obstruction of justice.
