Haredim outside, but Yesh Atid and Likud – Beitenu continue to fight: Today (Wednesday) comes another obstacle in the coalition talks. Representatives of Yesh Atid canceled a meeting with the negotiating team of the Likud - Beitenu because of a disagreement between the parties.
The Yesh Atid party has said that the reason for this is that the Likud Beitenu insist on a broad government of 28 ministers, while they want a small government with 18 ministers, as required by party leader Yair Lapid before the election. This gap, they say, justified the cancellation of the meeting.
"It is inconceivable that during the great economic crisis, which was brought on by the Likud, and that the public is falling to sword cuts, the government is so bloated," explained Yesh Atid. "Elected officials should serve as examples. Likud want to take the debate to a place of files, but we are not there. The debate at the moment is the essence of matters."
Likud officials said in response: "This is a transparent attempt to divert the discussion from the central question: Why, after throughout the election Yair Lapid asked 'Where's the money?', He did not answer until this moment the offer given to him to be the next Finance Minister of Israel, where the money is, where he can make changes and reforms."
