Mourning in Ashdod: Rebbe of Nashkiz zt"l

Baruch Dayan Ha'emes: in Ashdod, HaRav HaTzaddik R' Yisroel Stern, Rebbe of Nashkiz, passed awa tonight at the age of 50 after suffering of a malignant disease .

Rescue teams which were called to his home gave the Rebbe resuscitation which failed and a doctor pronounced his death.

The Rebbe of blessed memory, was born in Israel on 5th Elul 5722, to his father yibadel lechayim, Hagaon R' Meir Stern Rav of Meiron, and his mother Mrs Pesil.

He married his wife, Rebbetzin Raizel, daughter of the Rebbe zt"l of Shomrei Emunim who died six months ago.

Over the years, he opened his Beis Midrash on Herzl Street in Bnei Brak named after his grandfather, the Rebbe Mordechai of Nashkiz zt"l.

Two decades ago, he established institutions in Quarter Zein in the city of Ashdod, and many residents came to his doorstep to seek his advice, blessing and resourcefulness.

Several years later he was zoche to build a magnificent building his Beis Midrash which is a magnet for local residents and which also includes a Mikve and prayer rooms and is a lively place throughout the year.

He worked with Ba'alei Tshuva in the city, and gave talks and classes and was a well known figure among residents who are not observant.

Despite the many harsh sufferings, he continued his schedule as usual.

He left behind a blessed generation of ten children. On the night of Purim he betrothed his daughter.

The funeral procession will leave this morning (Wednesday) at 10:00 from the Beis Midrash of Hassidei Naskiz on R' Yossi Bar Halafta street on Rova Zein in Ashdod, and at 14:00 pm from the Shomrei Emunim Beis Midrash on Mea Shearim street in Jerusalem to the Mount of Olives where he will be burried.
