Serious anti-Semitic incident in Ukraine: three yeshiva students from Odessa are in custody in Lvov, for no reason.

The story begins when a group of Jewish boys aged 20 from Odessa's Jewish community, learning in the local yeshivah of Rabbi Shlomo Bakst, were invited to attend the Shabbos yahrzeit of Rabbi Elimelech Miliz'ansk held together with guests from New York at the town of Yampoli - near the tomb of R' Michel of Zlotschov.

On Friday there were three Bris Milahs for adults from the area including a young man from Odessa, and on Saturday night, after a moving Shabbat, the three boys were offered to join the journey of prayers on the tombs of Tzadikim in Sasov, Premishlan and Belz.

In Lvov, the boys went down at the train station to take the train to Odessa, but while waiting at the train station, the local police harassed them - claiming they stole the symbol of a parked car.

Hillel Cohen, Chairman of Hatzala Ukraine, said that these are eidel boys, wearing kippot and Russian speakers, and probably anti-Semitism is the only reason for their arrest.

Lvov, located in western Ukraine, is the capital of the Ukrainian nationalism. The city is known for its xenophobia, particularly Russian speakers, let alone when it comes to Jews wearing a yarmulke.

The boys are detained since yesterday evening, "We operate all efforts to release them and are in contact with Rabbi Elimelech Shochat from Lvov, who is trying to do his best," it said.
