Two American citizens were accused of throwing petrol bombs at synagogues in Rutherford in New Jersey. One of them was charged with attempted murder of the Rabbi of Beth El Congregation in the city, Rabbi Nissan Shukhman.

Anthony Graziano, charged with nine offenses, including also charged with attempted murder, a year ago, throwing a Molotov cocktail at the rabbi's apartment, which lived with his family above the synagogue of Beth El Congregation, wounding him seriously. His partner, Akash Dalal was also accused.

Background to the criminal act.

Defendants also attributed offenses of conspiracy to commit arson and terrorism-related offenses, possession of explosives and more.

If the court will convict the two on all charges against them – they are likely to face a life sentence.

Over a year ago the two, who were then aged 19, threw at the synagogue Molotov cocktails and explosive devices in an attempt to hurt the Rabbi, who lives on the second floor in the building.

Rabbi told local media interviews that he, his wife, five children and his parents slept in their home during the attack, when suddenly he saw a flash of fire outside the bedroom which burst into flames. "We avoided disaster, took the entire family out of the building safely," the rabbi said.
