The woman who was arrested this morning on suspicion of tearing wires of the Eiruv in the city of Bnei Brak, was released home with a warning not to tear wires again.

As published this morning in Behadrey Haredim, a 47-year-old woman resident of the city, was observed by passers-by ripping the wires of the Eiruv of Bnei Brak municipality along Jabotinsky Street, from Ben Gurion street to the Geha Highway - and she was detained for questioning.

Chief of Dan District, Commander Albert Ohayon, told Behadrey Haredim that that during her investigation the suspect said that the "wires interfered with pedestrians and endangered them", and therefore she cut them.

However, Shmuel Kahana, a member of the Eiruv department in Bnei Brak and mashgiach on behalf of the town Rav, Hagrmi"l Landau, says that the wires are at a height of five meters, and do not endanger pedestrians under any circumstances, "the background of the act is anti-religious."

"Since the morning, along with an enhanced team, we are working to fix any damaged wires of the Eiruv," says Shmuel. "During the work, several people came up to me in different places, and told me that they saw a woman in her 50's cutting the wires, while declaring that she does it, "because I hate haredim". Everyone gave me the same description of the woman, so there is no doubt that she did it intentionally and not innocently.

"I worked for five years with the Eiruv, and never came across an act directed against the Eiruv, and certainly not vandalism along the whole street."

In response to Kahana, the commander of the Dan district, Commander Albert Ohayon, explained to Behadrey Haredim that the woman innocent, and if anyone saw her tearing and saying that she does it on religious grounds, he should file a complaint with the police, and the police will arrest her immediately again.

Details which reached Behadrey Haredim show that this morning police received another complaint, this time from the City of Ramat Gan. According to the complaint, the Eiruv on HaRo'e street in the city was destroyed. It is not clear whether there is a connection between the cases.
