IDF plan: recruited Haredim will resemble 'the enemy' in training

While the political system is conducted negotiations on the issue of equality burden, the IDF continues the Haredi integration program.

The outgoing commander of the ground forces and the next Southern Command, Maj. Gen. Sami Turgeman, revealed in an exclusive interview to the Walla News that the military plans to establish an Armored Brigade reconnaissance unit 188 arranged on the basis of haredi soldiers, as well as additional power based on the ultra-Orthodox soldiers – to resemble the 'enemy' during the land training center.

"I think we should make every effort to preserve the basic idea of the army that is the people's army and the less gender and closed units, much more integration in all fields of combat, headquarters, combat support, professional communications, and the rest. As much as possible," said Gen. Turgeman referring to integrating of haredim in the IDF. "When a decision is made by a state official, we have to realize that by this we examine what are our operational needs and establish appropriate units.

"We do not need to invent anything new now," mentioned the General in the Walla News interview and said that the IDF has experience with Nachal Haredi battalion. "In the coming months we will build a force that will be one of the most significant components of improved land; power which will simulate a 'red' enemy in the dry training center and challenge all regiments and brigades that come to practice at Tze'elim. We are thinking to build it as religious closed personnel.

"We are thinking of building a Patrol Division 188 including rocket battalion level division. Within the space division and brigade they will be able to carry out religious needs. We will know how to display operational needs in order to realize the vision. It is not correct to establish Infantry Orthodox Division not for the ultra-Orthodox and not for the army."

Data from the Department of Human Resources presented last month showed that in the year 2013 is expected to register an increase in the number who declare 'torato umanuto', from 13.8% in 2012 to 14.4%.

Avishai Ben Haim: Campaign fraud continues as if the ultra-Orthodox recruits

Channel 10 reporter, Avishay Ben Haim, commented on his Facebook page on the interview: "Orthodox cruiser armor - Campaign fraud continues as if the ultra-Orthodox recruits."

He wrote:

"Some intelligence negligent Ground Forces Commander declares the establishment of an orthodox Patrol Armored Division. Who did not tell him that there is no chance haredim enlist to the patrol, or even the military? Recently senior Orthodox military commentator Yisrael Katzover told Radio Kol Chai, he does not understand how the excellent intelligence of the IDF has not exceeded that there is almost no Orthodox in the Nachal Haredi.

Today Walla exposes the outgoing commander of the Ground Forces Southern Command and the next, Maj. Gen. One must clarify to the Maj. Gen.: There are no Haredi soldiers who will fill this unit. Not a class, not even a link. Please note the outline for recruiting them is now aiming to recruit haredi adults, which means they get married and have children, will cost a lot of money, and will serve a ridiculous service (like Project Shachar which guaranteed them a service with studies at the expense of the army, no nights, no weekends, and huge salaries on account of the soldiers).

No cruiser. Where will haredi soldiers patrol if the Nachal Haredi cannot be filled with Haredi Orthodox? And that is despite the fact that the Nachal Haredi awarded very comfortable conditions. The promise is only two years of service and third year of free study under the status of soldiers (in many cases individual soldiers) with all rights attached. This includes treats from the association with the stream of idealistic ultra orthodox as $5000 wedding gift for a graduate of the Nachal Haredi who gets married.

And after all that they are unable to fill even the existing Orthodox battalion, and even some that once were once orthodox. So why not just disperse serious promises and mislead the public, rather than admit honestly: There is no outline which really speaks about recruiting the haredim.

The only way to penetrate the inequality burden is a revolution reward for soldiers.
