UK demand for kosher meat is breaking records and the price jumps due to horse meat scandal.
While meat markets reported a drastic drop in the consumption of meat products in the last month since the scandal broke, Jewish stores significantly increased the purchasing of meat products.
As already reported, non-Jews began to purchase meat products "kosher" meat products with knowledge that the kashrus systems follow the components of kosher meat.
These days there is a shortage of kosher meat and the kashrus system "Haredi Community Association" in London, issued a statement that, due to the shortage, prices of meat will be raised next week.
The horse meat scandal erupted when about six weeks ago the British supermarket giant "Tesco" announced that it would take down from the shelves brands of burgers, after laboratory tests located in them remains of horse meat.
Further on, the Swedish food giant "Pindos" also took down from shelves in Sweden and France frozen meals produced by it on suspicion they contain horse meat. Even the British supermarket chain "Aldi" announced at the same time that in two products of ready meals horse meat was found.
