A number of interesting episodes were recorded in Satmar during Purim.
After reading the Megillah by day, the Satmar Rebbe had reception for shalach manos at his home on Tzanz street, Kiryat Yoel.
Among those who came was a selected group of the Satmar Yeshiva Gedola, which brought the Rebbe, who is also the Rosh Yeshiva, a shalach manos: 30 thousand school hours continuously, from the first of Adar until Purim.
These brought with them a Kwitl from the yeshiva bochurim who joined the operation.
The 'banquet of wine' Tisch, held in the Beit Midrash in Kiryat Yoel, lasted about five hours during which the Rebbe gave Divrei Torah seven times, and fundraised from the public for his private charity box "Avnei Chessed," that helps the needy in Simchas.
Shushan Purim Tish was central, in which the Rebbe gave eight Divrei Torah on the words of a particular Midrash. Initially by way of 'Pardes' (Pshat, Remez, Drash, Sod), then the words of Torah to children, and then things in matters of charity, whereby he fund-raised for the benefit of the public fund "Avnei Chessed."
Each year, the Rebbe asks a group of people, to raise the money from the public. Sometimes those are butchers, sometimes Ba'alei Simcha; this year the appeal was referred to the Cheder Melamdim, who acceded and went out to raise donations.
Towards the last part of the Tish, the "Purim Spiel" show was held by students of Satmar institutions, which was marked by the draft decree this year.
