Almost graves struggle in Miron: stone was found during excavations
יעקב נחומי

During excavations made in the area of Rabbi Shimon in Miron for laying power cable, they uncovered a large stone which was suspected as a tomb.

The committee has not yet completed the renovations at the tomb compound. One of the duties is to replace the antiquated electricity infrastructure, and resume power systems throughout the region. In excavations made this week for that purpose by the workers, they suddenly discovered a large stone in the shaft, the nature of which was not clear. Members of Atra Kadisha, came hastily to the place and claimed that it is the tomb of one of the kadmonim, and not continue to work.

However, the Messenger of Reb Moshe Sternbuch – Rab"d Eideh Charedi examined the stone, rejected this hypothesis, stating that there is no suspicion of a grave. However, the Israel Antiquities Authority who was called to the scene, said based on initial exploratory, that even if it is grave, it is not of a kadmon, but perhaps the person who died during the War of Independence and was buried under the rock.

To avoid unnecessary commotion, the officials decided to slightly shift the route of the excavations, and cover back the unknown stone, and save that headache.

A society to prevent desecration of graves, Aharele Yakter, offers light of understanding formulated by the Atra Kadisha with Rabbi Eliezer Kestenbaum at the Golobnzitz compound in Beit Shemesh, which Kestenbaum will intervene in the issue of Miron and resolve the graves issue once and for all.

"Atra Kadisha argued that 250 acres of land is designated for construction in Beit Shemesh, is a large cemetery. But after Kestenbaum who came to Israel a few weeks ago with the Satmar Rebbe, reached understandings with the Atra Kadisha, and suddenly the cemetery 'disappeared' and building permits were given to entrepreneurs, perhaps Kestenbaum can also do wonders in Miron, and bring magic solutions to prevent the conflicts to come, "said Yakter.
