Due to the collapse and nonfunctional local council in Elad, Tov movement in Elad is accessing an application to the High Court demanding early elections in the city.

The request was in response to a petition filed by Shay Nathan - a national religious public representative on the city council, which requires the appointment of an appointed committee of the city. Tov movement, however, requires ousting the mayor and early elections, thereby giving residents a chance to have their say and to exercise their right to vote and be elected.

Request filed today 2/19/13, by Attorney Dr. Aviad Hacohen, require seven Tov members of Elad to oust the Mayor of Elad and hold early elections.

Yechiel Vaknin, one of the members of the movement signed the claim that: "The City Council is in an ongoing collapse and does not function. In fact those guilty of the terrible situation in Elad are members of the City Council responsible for the catastrophic situation, most of them were involved in city affairs and did nothing to prevent the collapse . Now the Ministry of Interior is required to appoint an appointed committee to the city, such a committee will put the city in deep freeze for three years. Default of elections is a preferable choice since as residents of the city, we want to take our future in our hands and manage the affairs of the city."

"The city of Elad," says Chairman of Tov Chanoch Werdyger, "is an example that excluding residents from the election process leads to responsibility for poor management of representatives, we must restore the ability to influence the affairs of the city residents."

Tov is working these days to introduce municipal notes in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Beitar Illit, Modi'in Illit and Beit Shemesh.

In Beit Shemesh and Betar Illit, this is the second campaign in which local lists are participating, planned – for the first time in the ultra-Orthodox parties - primaries to select a candidates list.
