Resident of Beer Sheva 40, who was released from prison recently, was charged today (Tuesday) at the Magistrate Court due to a number of burglaries into private homes. The fascinating story behind the capture of the thief, related to a $20 bill and a blessing written at the grave of Rabbi Nachman in Uman.
A year ago, a local resident went to pray at the grave of Rabbi Nachman. When he was at the tomb, one of the rabbis who were there blessed him, and wrote on the $20 bill, "Health and full recovery." The woman kept the money and put it in her purse, not long ago the bill was stolen.
Yesterday, a resident of the city center called 100 and complained that he noticed an unknown man trying to break ground floor warehouse. Beer Sheva police detectives arrived at the scene and arrested the offender 'in the act', with stolen tools in his possession, which he was going to use to break into other houses. A $20 bill was found on him.
The police could not prove it was the same bill which was stolen, and the woman came to the police station to explain to researchers what is so special about the bill.
The woman told them on the other side of the bill was dedicated to her a blessing in the handwriting of the Rabbi, and indeed, the words proved the reliability of her, and the police concluded that the thief is the one who broke into her home. "There is no doubt that the blessing of Rabbi on the bill framed the thief," said the intelligence officer and detective, Superintendent Oren Sabag.
